11 days left! My 4 habits if you are looking to adopt a new, healthy lifestyle!

Life
I am such a geek about food and nutrition. I'm definitely not as knowledgeable as I'd like to be, but anytime I get to teach the Beginner's Nutrition Class I am a happy camper. This morning we talked about the Paleo Diet, the Zone Diet and how to implement baby changes that will give big results!

In my opinion, anyone new to fitness and healthy eating needs to take baby steps. If you take on too many new habits at once, you will not be successful at any of them.

"There is a 100% failure for forming multiple habits at once and a 50-80% success if you do just one habit at a time." - Leo Batura, author of The Power of Less

Pick some habits you would like to adopt and then do ONE AT A TIME. Give yourself time to fully adopt one habit before taking on a new one.

Habits I recommend for those just starting the journey to fitness:

1) Establish an exercise routine. Give yourself 30 days to commit to a new exercise routine. Get fully in the habit so that getting in your fitness time is non-negotiable.

2) Eat more protein. Lean meats, chicken and fish. At every meal. If you are vegan, you will have to work hard to get enough protein, but it can be done. For some people, they just don't really care to eat a lot of protein, but whatever your goals, athletic performance, weight loss, weight gain, physique change, protein will help with that.

3) Eat more vegetables. I don't care if you don't like them. You are an adult. Suck it up. Green ones. Red ones. Yellow ones. Purple ones. (Hint; for this habit, corn is not a vegetable. Potatoes are not vegetables. Beans are not vegetables.)

4) Take a daily multi-vitamin and 3 grams of fish oil.

Training

I needed some fresh air and space today so I put my chair in the shade and my bar in the grass. Lesson learned though. Lifting in the grass, though picturesque, doesn't really work. I did one set and then rolled it up onto the concrete pad.

That works better. A little more hardcore looking as well.

Best thing I came across today:

I’m getting paid for my shopping with an app called Receipt Hog, and you should try it out. All you do is take pictures of your grocery receipts, and Receipt Hog will pay you. It's that simple. And if you submit receipts regularly, you can earn spins at the “Hog Slots” slot machine, where you can win more money or even have your entire shopping trip paid for! It’s fun, it’s easy, and it’s free.
Plus, if you use this referral code, we’ll both get extra spins at the Hog Slots when you submit your first receipt: zunt1853
So join me in earning some easy cash. You can download the app here: http://app.receipthog.com/download

Stay strong y'all!

Do me a favor and subscribe to my email list. Not only will you be able to keep up with all my random thoughts, you'll get first notice when I finish this really cool project I am working on! I promise not to spam you or sell your information!

This project is one that I hope will enrich your life! It's taking a lot of things I've learned through the years and boiling them down into quickly digestible truths.

  4. You're right about not trying to change too many things at once, it rarely works. I know I want to increase my cross training while I'm running. Thanks for the encouragement!

    1. I have to control myself because I will decide to do 18 different new things this week instead of sticking to the 1-2 I know I can handle. Lol, I'm learning though. Thank you for stopping by!
